Magical Maps

When a copywriter decides to pick up the pen and create art... Magical things happen.

Last night, Mark Nardi drew Linds and I a map to Harvard Square. We were headed to the Border Cafe for margaritas and fajitas, also a suggestion of his.

Mark's map was very Helpful. (**note the title "Harvard Square" is spelled Havad- like a true bostonian would put it**)
We followed the steps to the sombrero and maraca (representing the Border Cafe). We were welcomed with superb frozen margaritas and delicious chips with guacamole and salsa. We split the fajitas for two, a wise decision. They came with the most delicious tortillas I've ever eaten. An important note for anyone thinking of going to the Border Cafe- they DO NOT HAVE DESSERT.

We marched across the street to Lizzy's Ice Cream shop for a "2 scoop" pint of ice cream.

What a way to finish off the night.

That's a Wrap

On Friday night we finished the shoot. Lots of food was consumed. Many conversations were had. A small crisis was solved. Good times & happy clients- ingredients for a good night's sleep.

On set with Irv Blitz

I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to be on Irv's set while shooting DD. I helped squirt wild caramel strings all over set with the crew. This was the last shot of the day. A good way to end it.

Lunch

As luck would have it, our bellies weren't full by 1:00. Lunch at the Green Table was tasty. Photo credits go to Jim Buckley. Retouching, yours truly.

Guess the iphone can't take the greatest pictures.

Dunkin' shoot, day 1

The Hill crew schlepped to Logan airport yesterday during the most tremendous rainstorm in history. Our flight was not the smoothest. We arrived at LaGauardia around 5ish. Anne, Caitlyn and one of our Dunkin' clients, Kim took the first car back to the hotel. Jim and I waited for our ride- a Highlander Hybrid SUV. We were picked up by Larry David (or at least his doppleganger) who yacked our ears off about hybrid technology.
We arrived at the Soho Grand around 6. Just in time to unpack, eat some gummy bears, lay on the bed and then meet downstairs at seven for drinks. Chris, the other DD client arrived around the same time. He took the train. Wise move.
Anne's wardrobe consists solely of black and white graphic printed shirts- day one above... more to come.
For dinner we went to el Rio Grande on 38th and 3rd. Fernando made us fresh guacamole right at the table. We had awesome margaritas, fresh tortillas, delicious steak, fried ice cream... it was all around greatness.
After dinner we headed to XR bar downtown. We planned to meet up with Tim & Scott- two other producers in town from Hill, and we actually did. Turns out, we "were" the bar. There wasn't a soul around but us, Victor- the bartender who was believe it or not- less than happy to see us, and Bill- the dog. Bill was just chillin' on his pillow people watching.
The night ended back at the hotel. I retired before the rest of the gang and woke up this morning bright and happy.
Hey- Happy Valentine's Day everyone.

Before I knew Absolut was vodka

or even what vodka was, I was collecting these things. I'd rip 'em out of any magazine I found. My collection grew, as did my knowledge of vodka.
Why are we talking about this? well, there is a strong possibility I might get to work with the master who shot a great many of these ads. Steve Bronstein, legendary photographer. It would be a dream to work with him... stay tuned. I'll know if it's happening tomorrow.
As for jumping the gun and putting this out there before it's set in stone, I have no luck. no good luck. no bad luck. It's just what it is.
but I did think about it. I just had nothing else to blog about.

Ok. I saved the post until today. It's a go. We're shooting with Mr. B! the real deal.

Burning Bridge

A bunch of Hill creatives and producers were invited to Burning Bridge's new place today for lunch. They're a great sound design/recording studio here in Boston that just finished putting together their new space at 142 Berkeley Street in the Back Bay. I met Rick Sweetser, Tony...and I'm terrible with names.... a woman with dark, cool, fun hair. God. This name thing is really a curse I'll have to live with for the rest of my life.
The new space is fantastic. You should stop in and see it.
