Yesterday Lindsay, Dorothy and myself flew into Richmond for a portfolio review at VCU. We went to a party hosted by IPG and met a handful of fellow IPGers. The party was nice, it was held at an art gallery in town. It felt like someone had cleaned out their house and held a party. Like college, only way more sophisticated.
After the party we went to a great little spot two blocks away called Comfort... suggested by Holly... who used to live here. Comfort was everything she said it would be and more. The mac and cheese was to die for. The potatoes, delish. We left there feeling anything but comfortable.
Today was chock full o portfolios. Really good work. A lot of work to go through so it was great that the three of us could divide and conquer. We met with some of the students and chatted about life at HH. Everyone seemed really nice. The one thing that I noticed after speaking with a lot of the graduates was that no one seemed too concerned about finding a job. Getting their foot in the door. Hustling to get their first job. When I was graduating, that was my number one priority. Get myself a job. I don't think I ever went ten minutes without thinking about who I could call next, what agency I could pop into, or when the next issue of archive was coming out so I could call a new crop of people and tell them I liked their work- could they look at mine?
These kids will probably be my boss in ten years. sigh.
Tonight we head to cocktails and dinner. It should be fun.

Did the "Creative Spaces" piece get the axe already? That was short lived. I didnt even get a chance to comment on it.
