Up in NH this past weekend.
Dragged Dave to the fidelity jumper classic in Hampton Falls. I had loads of fun watching everyone, especially in the warm up arenas. I don't think Dave had as much fun as I did, but I never heard a complaint. We headed out of there around lunch time and decided to grab some... lunch! We landed in Exeter, NH and stopped in at a local pub. The food was tasty. We were lucky enough to be in Exeter for the first ever Exeter UFO festival. There were some interesting folks and aliens wandering around town. It was kinda creepy.
The rest of our weekend was filled with bar-b-ques and beer. Some highlights:
CREEPER RACING
Get a few country folks together and they'll come up with something fun to do. You know those things with wheels that mechanics lie on when they slide under your car... those are creepers. A few of the guys set up a ramp with a piece of plywood... get pushed down the driveway fast enough, jump the jump, land in the grass. I think everyone at the cookout tried it. some were more successful than others.
FISHING:
Make sure you can start the motor before you bring the boat, the tackle box, the poles, the bait, the soft drinks, the snacks... you'll find yourself awful mad when you're out on the lake and can't start that motor.
SLIM JIMS:
Make sure you test them out before you bite into one. Just because they have a ton of preservatives in them doesn't mean they can't go bad. ick. liquid slim jims. gross.
It was a good end to a short summer. I did miss the demolition derby. Dave neglected to tell me it was this weekend. I must say I'm pretty bummed.
Anyway. Back to work.
Happy Tuesday!

Michelle and Becky are Married!

Michelle and Becky got hitched over the weekend. It was a wonderful celebration!
Great people. Great food. Great music.
They say it's good luck if it rains on your wedding day. If that's true, Michelle and Becky will be very, very lucky. The night started off with rain. heavy rain. huge rain... which was a great way to meet people- in the bathroom drying off their fancy shoes and trying to lift their feet under the hand dryers.
Everyone managed to wring out and dry off and we all went on to enjoy every bit of the evening.
There was a great photo booth that was a gift from Michelle's sister Kelly. There was a display of Michelle's photos (my favorite was the Pine Plains photo, and the ice cream truck was also a favorite!). There was family. Friends. Blue Moon. Orange slices.... There was music, dancing, cupcakes, keys, laughs, and lots of love. I even got to see my brother. holy cow.
There was also rain and clouds, so a lot of my pictures didn't come out.
It was a great wedding, for two great people, and I'm so glad I got to be a part of it.
Camping on the Saco River
Last weekend Dave and headed out for a last minute camping trip to Maine. It was great- a nice river to jump in and cool off, a fire pit to house our blazin' fire, sheep roaming the property, 100 degree weather with 100% humidity, an overcrowded playground right in front of our site... Like I said, it was great. Things just could have been a little better.

B.good coming to quincy?

Dave and I were driving down my street on Saturday morning when all of the sudden I saw it. The b.good van. They were parked right outside an abandoned building moving supplies from the truck in through the side door of the building. This was no delivery, I made sure of that. I'm left with only one assumption...

Updates and other things...
It's been a while since I've blogged regularly and there are some necessary updates.
Lindsay is engaged to Dave. This is great news for her. The two of them went away for a weekend back in May (?) to Chicago to see a Cubs game and explore a new city. Dave popped the question one night and the rest will be history. Cheers to them!
I am riding again! This is big news. Most of you who know me well know how much I love to ride and how much i've missed it since moving to Boston. I reconnected with a friend of mine who I used to lesson with back in NY and it turns out she knew of a horse that could use a little extra exercise. hooray! I've been riding Ben since June. He's a wonderful Clydesdale cross. He has a great personality and is a fun ride.
I've moved! I'm now living alone and it's fabulous. I'm living in an adorable 1BR on the 2nd floor. It's in a new section of town so it seems like I live in a whole new area. New grocery store. New liquor store. New route to get on the highway. New SHORTER walk to the T. New running route when i actually run.
Things are good.

dumped on.

Mark and I were just discussing embarrassing stories. I drew him these pictures to help illustrate my story. I was wheeling a wheelbarrow loaded with crap down a hill. I must have picked up speed and lifted too high, because before I knew it, I was ass over barrow and covered in shit. Mark's story ended up less stinky.

Another one?
Yesterday was my 28th birthday.
I've made a few adjustments to my life that I'd like to stick to now that I'm 28.
Adjustments like... eating healthy(ier)... doing at least 1 physical activity 5x week... trying to keep a normal schedule and be in bed by 10 most nights... blogging regularly (yes, kathy- you can hold me to it)... there's other stuff on that list too, but I won't go into detail.
So, after i washed down my oversized and overfrosted piece of cake with a honkin' glass of red wine last night... I went to bed hoping today would bring me closer to my goals. I suppose time will tell.
but make a note of it.... I did blog today!

new sneakers... or new terrain...
I've recently decided to ignore my growing need for new running sneakers. My sneakers have a good 1,000 miles on them- any runner knows that this is a recipe for disaster.
In my attempt to save money, I am going to run on soft surfaces. I am forbidding myself from running on pavement. I've got to hit the track, the beach, the dirt, whatever it takes... I'm holding off on buying new sneaks. Now, my whole plan might backfire on me. My frugal self might wind up with one hell of a stress fracture- but at least I won't have to buy a new pair of shoes. besides, I can get more hours of use out of boots than I could a pair of sneakers. And if I'm sidelined with an injury, I can stay in bed and not feel guilty about it.

La Joya. La Jolla.
OK. This is merely a post to satisfy the masses... or just kathy.
My film card encountered an unfortunate event of corruption. so, I don't have all the photos yet, but I will share once I do.
Here are some shots from La Jolla. (pronounced LA-HOYA)... but we all like to say... La Joya. sun. waves. sand. nothing but joy.

If I could bundle...

All the time I spend waiting for my damn computer to do things. It's ridiculous. I joke that if I could store it up every day- the time i sit here, watching things load or pinwheels spin... I'd have at least 3 hours to do what I wanted to everyday. That's a whopping 2,000 calorie workout... or an entire drive back to Dutchess county... or a damn good sunbathing session...
Anyway, today was no different than any other in that sense.
I did start a new fun project. I was doodling yesterday and wound up liking it so much i wanted to turn it into something to put up in my apartment. It's well on it's way to being finished... but here's a sneak peek.

Next knitting project?

It's that time of year that I start to think about knitting. I go down to michaels, buy a crapload of cool yarns, a few new needles, maybe a book or two... $100 later i'm sitting in my living room with a ton of ideas. Once I start the creation journey... I never finish. Perhaps this year instead of making a one armed sweater or a 1/4 of a blanket... Maybe I try a project like this stabbed bunny? Or this unicorn?
I think that might be getting in a bit over my head. For now, I think I'll start a project that's finished, without really having the whole completion process... like fingerless gloves. Finished, but missing something. That's more my style.
